IMAGINE: The Doctor Coming to Live on Your Home Planet
You sit in your study, updating your journals about your recent trip throughout time and space. You're a Time Lady. Unbeknownst to most of the universe, Gallifrey wasn't the only planet that was the home to Time Lords and Time Ladies. After Gallifrey fell, your planet Valadia—filled with a dwindling list of Time Lords and Time Ladies—protected itself. Everyone went into seclusion, keeping their identities a secret. While Valadia, a very sandy planet, doesn't get any visitors, everyone is still careful. You spend most of your time time travelling. However, you do come back to Valadia every so often to make sure the planet isn't crumbling to pieces and to update your travel journals. As you scribble some notes, your door slams open. You look up in surprise. "Gerrick." You smile at your alien friend. His blue scaly skin is paler than normal. Your smile quickly fades when you see the panicked look on his face. “Y/N." He pants, putting a hand on the door frame. “What's wrong?" You asked worriedly, your hearts pounding. “An unregistered time machine entered our atmosphere fifteen minutes ago. We've never seen anything like it." He breathes. You stand up so quickly the chair you were sitting on falls backwards. "What." You gape. ——— You follow Gerrick out of your house. Up ahead you see a small crowd of people talking to each other, worried. “Did we track it?" You ask, hurrying along with Gerrick. “It landed on the far side of the planet. That's all we know." “Any life forms?" “Just one." He says. You raise your eyebrows in question. "It's a Time Lord, Y/N." He answers. “So? It's probably just one of our guys. Maybe something happened to his machine." Gerrick shakes his head. "Everyone is checked in and accounted for. Not many Time Lords or Ladies leave Valadia, Y/N. You're one of the few. Everyone is here. This-this is a new Time Lord." “That's-that's impossible." You breathe. “Gallifrey was destroyed. All of the Time Lords are dead." You state. Gerrick looks at you, an unsure look on his face. You bite your lip. “All right, everyone, make room, make room." Gerrick demands, pushing his way through the crowd. "We're going to meet him and see what he wants." He says to everyone, opening up a small shed that is home to two speeders. “We?" You ask. “Yeah, you and me, Y/N." Gerrick responds, throwing you a pair of goggles. “Thanks for volunteering me." You mumble. He grins at you before turning to the crowd. “Everyone, stay here. Do not follow us." Gerrick instructs as you both jump onto separate speeders. “If you’ll we aren't back in five days, send a patrol out. Keep yourselves armed." You tell them. They nod at you. You can feel the tension in the sand-filled air. The Valadians are worried. You look at Gerrick and take a deep breath, before nodding. He presses a button and zooms out of the shed. You press a button and follow him. Gerrick and you follow the heat-censored tracking map on the speeders for what seems like hours. From the map, you can see the Time Lord slowly walking within a mile of his machine. It takes Gerrick and you about six hours to spot the Time Lord yourselves. "Follow close by me." You say to Gerrick, getting off your speeder and pulling our your Sonic Screwdriver. Gerrick, who isn't a Time Lord, obeys and hovers behind you. The Time Lord is about half a mile from you walking towards you. A dust storm has started, making his figure incredibly blurred. Gerrick and you slowly move through the storm until you're upon the Time Lord. He stops when he sees Gerrick and you. "Who are you?" You scream in order to be heard above the wind. You lift your Sonic Screwdriver up and take a step back when you realize the Time Lord across from you is doing the same thing. He's wearing goggles like you so you can't properly see his face. “What are you doing here?" You shout. “I'm the Doctor!" He exclaims. Your eyebrows furrow. "The Doctor?" You ask in confusion. “Where am I? What planet is this?" He asks, turning in a circle. “Not a very good Time Lord, is he?" Gerrick murmurs in your ear. “You're on Valadia, home to the Time Lords and Time Ladies!" You exclaim. The Doctor stops and looks at you incredulously. "What?" “We're wondering how you, a Time Lord, escaped from Gallifrey in one piece? How did you find Valadia? And why are you here?" You ask, keeping your Sonic Screwdriver aimed at his face. ——— The Doctor, Gerrick, and you sit in his time machine, the Tardis. None of the Time Lords or Time Ladies have Tardises. They have their own versions of time machines, so you can't help but marvel at the workings of the Tardis. "I-I don't understand. It was to my understanding that all Time Lords and Time Ladies were killed off. I thought...I believed I was the last one." The Doctor whispers. “After the fall of Gallifrey, we kept ourselves well hidden. We didn't want to have the same fate as Gallifrey so we became recluses. Most of us don't even time travel anymore. We're a dying breed, Doctor." You lean forward, staring at him. "How did you find Valadia and what business do you have here?" You ask suspiciously. “We ask because we are protectors of this planet and its people. If you've come to harm us, you may as well just leave." Gerrick adds. “I haven't come to harm anyone. I don't even know how I got here. The Tardis was knocked off course from a black hole. She lost utter control and we were flying aimlessly around space. Finally this planet appeared on my radar. It was purely accidental. I never would have found it if we weren't blown thousands of miles off course by that black hole." The Doctor explains. "So you haven't come here to wipe us all out?" Gerrick asks slowly. The Doctor's eyes widen in horror. "No! Do you even understand how I'm feeling right now? I believed my kind was dead—that I was the last living Time Lord in the universe. For so many years...so many regenerations...I thought I was the last." He whispers the last sentence, his voice cracking. Gerrick and you glance at each other. "We wanted to go to Gallifrey...to see if there was even the possibility of survivors. But...we got word that none survived—the whole planet decimated." You whisper. The Doctor nods and looks away from you. "I am sorry, Doctor." You say with sorrow. He looks back up at you and smiles sadly. “So you then? Are you a Time Lord?" The Doctor asks. “I am." You nod. “I'm just pathetically normal." Gerrick states. “You know that's not true." You nudge him, rolling your eyes. He smiles at you. The Doctor chuckles. "It's amazing we have never crossed paths." He murmurs. “The universe is expansive and time is immeasurable. It's amazing we even found each other." You say. “Good point." The Doctor breathes. "Do you travel often?" He asks. You nod, smiling. "It's rare that I'm on Valadia for so long, but there's much to be done before my next trip." “You travel alone?" He asks. You nod. "That must get lonely." He murmurs. “Sometimes." You shrug. “I would be lonely." He admits. "You speak as if you travel with a companion." You chuckle. “Oh, I do." He answers nonchalantly. You straighten and look around. "What? Where?" “Oh, I-I don't have one right now...but I usually do. It helped—traveling with a companion. It made my life seem less lonely...less bleak." He replies softly. You reach your arm across and cover his hand with yours. He looks at you. LYour life doesn't have to be so lonely or so bleak anymore, Doctor." You whisper softly. “You are welcome to stay here in Valadia, if you'd like." You offer. “You'd be free to go whenever you'd like. You can come and go as you please. We wouldn't hold you down here." Gerrick adds. The Doctor eyes fill with tears and he rapidly blinks them away, smiling. "Are-are you sure?" You nod. "As I said before, Doctor, we are a dying breed. There's not many of us left. We may as well stick together, right? Nobody wants to be alone. And if you'd like to make your home here, you won't ever have to be alone." The Doctor smiles with relief and squeezes your hand. "Thank you, Y/N. Thank you, Gerrick." He whispers, his voice cracking. [THE END] I hope you liked it!
