You’re putting the final touches on the set, making sure everything is perfectly placed, set, and ready to go. "Y/N, we good?" The director asks. You take a step back and then move forward to slightly turn an item. “Okay, yeah. Now we're good." Adam Driver comes into the warehouse. "Hey, Y/N." He smiles at you and waves. You smile and wave back. While you usually don't make friends with the actors who act on your sets, Adam is a different story. You two met a couple of years ago on a different movie set and hit it off immediately. You've been friends ever since and you have worked on all of his movies. For the next four hours, as Adam is being filmed, you're working off to the side, busy sketching your next sets in your notepad. “Okay, that's a wrap for that scene. Guys, go get dinner and then we'll do another scene." The director announces. Adam walks over to you. "Good job, Adam. You were really good." You say, setting your stuff down. “Really? I thought it was okay. I don't know...” He admits. You start walking together. “What do you mean?" “I felt like my performance could have been...better." "Really? I thought it was really good." He smiles at you. "Thanks, Y/N." You walk to the food tent, get your food, and then sit down at a table together. Half way through dinner, these loud booms sound. You freeze, your fork midway to your mouth. You look at Adam whose eyes are wide and alert. Someone runs in the tent. "There are fireworks outside!" They announce. People start piling outside to get a look at them. You watch Adam the more the fireworks sound. He looks at his food, his face ashen. Beads of sweat settle on his brow. Adam has told you of his struggles with PTSD from the war. You've just never seen it in person. "Adam, are you okay?" You ask softly. He nods quickly, his head still lowered. One of the cameramen walks up behind Adam and puts his hand on his shoulder. Adam jumps to his feet with a gasp, making you jump in surprise. “Whoa, hey, sorry, Adam, I didn't mean to scare you there. I was just wondering if you guys were going to go check out the fireworks. They're amazing!" The cameraman says before walking off. Adam rests a hand on the table, breathing heavily. The fireworks are getting louder and people are shouting with excitement. You stand up. "Hey, Adam, it's okay, it's okay." You soothe, moving near him. You gently place a hand on his back. “Don't touch me!" He shouts angrily. You jump back surprise and your eyes are wide. Adam stares at you, his face softening, still breathing hard. "Y/N, I'm-I'm sorry." He stutters. He gasps before running off. “Adam, wait!" You call, but it's too late. He's gone. You give Adam some time and then you start to ask around if anyone has seen Adam. No one has. You make your way to the trailer lot. You walk through the rows until you come up to Adam's. You knock on the door. “Adam, are you in there?" No answer. You open the door. "Adam?" Still no answer. You step inside and find Adam laying on his bed, his headphones on, music blasting. You sigh and walk over to him. You sit on the bed and pull his headphones off. "You're going to go deaf if you keep your music up that high." You claim. He sits up and looks at you. "The fireworks stopped." You add. “Y/N, I'm so, so sorry for snapping at you. I know you were only trying to comfort me. I just get so-so uptight and angry when I hear fireworks or loud noises. It just brings back so many bad memories. They all just come flooding in at once and they drown me." He explains. “Adam, I understand. You don't have to explain." You reply softly, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. He hugs you tightly. "I'm here when you need me, okay? Whenever, I don't even care. I'm here for you. And if there are times, like what happened today, that you want to be alone. Let me know. I'm cool with that too." "Thank you, Y/N." Adam chokes out hoarsely. You wrap your other arm around him and hug him. [THE END] I hope you liked it!
