You pace the length of your cell, beyond furious. "So why'd you do it?" The prison guard asks, lazily whittling away at a piece of wood. "Do what?" You spit. "Plan to assassinate the Master." You stop and glare at him. "For the last time I didn't plan to assassinate the Master!" You shout angrily. "The evidence is all there." He points out. "What evidence? There is no evidence!" You exclaim. "Uh, yeah there is." You cross your arms. "Well, would you mind letting me in on what the evidence is? Because no one is telling me." You snap. He snorts. "I can't tell you that." You lowly growl and resume your pace. You were out shopping when two guards and Alfrid came. The guards arrested you while Alfrid falsely accused you of planning to assassinate the Master. Everyone keeps telling you that there is evidence but they're not tell you what. You know you're being framed—but by who, you don't know. If only you could talk to Bard... --- "Hey, Y/N. Y/N!" You hear someone harshly whispering. You moan slightly and sit up, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. It's nighttime. You push yourself up off the hard ground and see Bard by the tiny window in your cell. "Bard!" You exclaim lowly, jumping for the window. Bard is laying on his stomach, his hands around the bars. You reach up and stick your hands through the bars. He eagerly grasps your hands and kisses them. "I'm so sorry you're in here, my love." He whispers. "They're accusing me of plotting to assassinate the Master, Bard. But I haven't. I-I don't know why they're making these claims. I've done nothing wrong." You whisper, your voice cracking. "I know, Y/N, I know." He breathes, reaching through the bars to caress your face. "I'm going to try and plead to the Master that you're innocent. I'll try to find the person who's framing you." "I have a feeling it's Alfrid." You state. Bard's eyebrows draw. "Why Alfrid? What motive would he have?" "What motive would he ever have for being a scum?" You grumble. His eyebrows raise and he nods. "Good point." He replies. "I won't let you stay here in much longer, Y/N. I will get you out. I promise." You smile. "I love you, Bard." He smiles back at you. "I love you too." He whispers. "Hey! You there! Halt!" You hear a guard yell to Bard. "Go!" You whisper to Bard. "I'll come back for you!" Bard vows, before getting up and dashing off. You step away from the window and sigh. You sit on the ground and pull your knees to your chest. --- You wake up to the sound of fighting. You gasp when you see four Orcs barging into the dungeons. You jump to your feet and back up against the wall, your eyes wide in surprise. You glance down at the two guards who're laying face down on the ground, dead. The Orcs look over all the other empty cells and then their eyes land on you. They grin and look at each other. "Let's take her with." One says. They nudge one another. "She'll be good...sport." Another states. You feel like you're going to throw up. "Help! Somebody help me!" You scream as they unlock your cell door. You feel the panic rise up in you. They grab you as you kick and scream. "She's fiesty." The one who's holding you hisses. "Let me go!" You shout, clawing at him. He holds you tighter against him and you almost gag at the stench coming off of him. "Come on, let's go. We need to meet up with the group." An Orc says. The one holding you clamps a hand over your mouth, muffling your screams. "Let's go before anyone notices she's gone." He growls. You breathe hard, your eyes wide in horror and panic. --- The Orcs throw you on top of a Warg. "Can I trust you not to scream?" An Orc asks sitting on the same Warg as you. You nod, glancing at Bard's house not far away. There's a light on inside and you know he's up, working hard to try and plead your innocence. "Okay." The Orc says, before removing his hand. You wait a few seconds. You suddenly jump off the Warg and start running towards Bard's house. "Help! Bard! Help me! Orcs! Orcs!" You scream at the top of your lungs. The Orcs run for you. Without thinking, you dive into the frigid water. The water immediately numbs your body, but you ignore it. You swim down and then start towards Bard's house. You swim under a boat and then pop your head out of the water to get a look at the Orcs. They're staring at the black waters, waiting for you to emerge. You smile, your teeth chattering. You spot Bard running towards the docks, towards you. "Bard!" You whisper once he nears. He stops before the Orcs spot him. "Down here! In the water!" You say. He ducks and then his eyes search the water. They land on you and he crawls over to you. "What's going on?!" He exclaims lowly. "Four Orcs killed the guards and captured me." You whisper. "Why?" He asks. "I don't know." "I've got my bow. I'll shoot them." He states. "Wait! They have Wargs with them too." You say. Bard grins at you. "Then I'll just have to make this swift." He whispers. You smile back. "Hey, before you do that, could you help me out of the water? I can't feel my arms." You shudder. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!" He apologizes, reaching for you. He helps you out of the water and then takes off his warm jacket. "Here you go." He says, placing it around your shoulders. "Thank you." You sigh, already feeling the warmth sink into your arms. Bard nocks an arrow and takes a deep breath. "Don't miss." You breathe. "No pressure." He mutters. You smile as he releases the first arrow. It hits a Warg square in the forehead. It falls over dead. The other Wargs and Orcs start moving around in a frenzy, turning in circles, wondering where the arrow came from. Bard kills off the other three Wargs without a problem. You watch him, noticing the set in his jaw and the concentration in his eyes. It's endearing. Arrow after arrow he fires until all the Orcs are dead. He lowers his bow with a confident smile. "So...I didn't miss." He states. You throw your arms around him and hug him tightly. "Have I ever told you how great you are?" You whisper. His arms go around your waist. "Once or twice." He murmurs. You smile. Shouts sound and people come running with torches. "What's going on?" Someone asks. Bard pulls away from you. "I'll explain." He states. --- You wait back in your cell. It's morning now. Bard is explaining everything that has happened with the Orcs to the Master and he's also trying to prove your innocence. You're waiting for Bard to come back and tell you what your verdict is going to be. When someone opens the dungeon door, you look up. "Bard!" You exclaim, standing up as he nears your cell. You walk to the bars and your fingers clasp them. "Well?" You ask hopefully, worried at the look on Bard's face. He finally smiles. "The Master is graciously letting you go, claiming that the whole thing has been a misunderstanding." He states. You sigh with relief and rest your forehead on the bars. "Oh, thank goodness." You breathe. "I didn't-I didn't expect him to be so gracious. Especially since everyone was saying I was going to assassinate him." You admit, rolling your eyes. Bard wraps his hands around your fingers that are grasping the bars. "I'm not everyone." He says, smiling. You smile at him. "No, you're not." You murmur. "Thank you, Bard. For pleading my cause." "You're welcome." He replies. He grabs a set of keys and unlocks the cell door. You step into his arms and sigh. You rest your head against his shoulder as Bard kisses your head, cradling it. "You've been through quite a lot the past twenty four hours." He states. You laugh softly. "I'll be happy if I never have to go through that ever again." "I'll make sure it doesn't." He replies, resting his head on yours, holding you tight. [THE END] I hope you liked it!
